Poznan University of Technology has awarded its first micro-credentials – modern, digital certifications confirming competencies acquired through short learning activities. This marks a symbolic milestone, opening a new chapter in the University’s approach to skills development and lifelong learning.
Behind this initiative are real needs and individual stories. One of the first recipients is Natalia Górska, an administrative specialist from the Faculty of Architecture, who took part in a course focused on developing language skills in a project-based work environment.
I decided to participate in the course because I wanted to develop my language competences in the context of project work at the Faculty of Architecture of Poznan University of Technology. Before starting the course, I had completed postgraduate studies in project management, and the course programme was an excellent complement to them – she explains.
As she highlights, her decision was driven by the evolving nature of academic work and the growing importance of international collaboration:
In my work, there is an increasing need to communicate in English in an international environment, which is why I wanted to expand my vocabulary and skills related to business language used in projects and research.
The micro-credential she received is not only a formal recognition, but also a practical tool supporting her further professional development:
I treat the obtained micro-credential as confirmation of developing competences useful in administrative, organisational and project-related work. I plan to use the acquired skills to further support project teams at the Faculty of Architecture, as well as in activities related to preparing and applying for new projects, including international ones.
Micro-credentials enable the recognition of specific learning outcomes – knowledge, skills and competences – gained through short, specialised learning activities. Thanks to their digital format, they can be easily shared and serve as a reliable tool for presenting qualifications in both academic and professional contexts.
The implementation of micro-credentials at Poznan University of Technology is based on regulations introduced by the Rector and forms part of the University’s broader strategy to develop modern, flexible learning pathways.
